Slightly soluble in dilute sulfuric acid lead solution, slightly soluble in water, soluble in denser sulfuric acid solution, ammonium acetate and the alkali solution to produce soluble substances. Can be used for lead-acid batteries, pigments, used as a catalyst for the production of oxalic acid, fiber weight gain, coatings, paints, printing, analytical reagent.
Lead sulfate will damage blood, nerve, digestive system and kidneys. Mainly chronic occupational poisoning. Nervous system mainly as neurasthenic syndrome, peripheral neuropathy (involvement more visible to motor function), severe lead poisoning encephalopathy occurred. Digestive system manifestations of gum lead line, loss of appetite, nausea, bloating, diarrhea or constipation; colic cases seen in the middle and heavier. Hematopoietic system damage occurs porphyrin metabolism disorders such as anemia. Short-term exposure can lead poisoning, acute or subacute, the performance of similar severe chronic lead poisoning.
